College Credit in High School

Early College Start

TVArk's Early College Start Program is an opportunity for high school students to enroll in college courses to enhance their high school education and accelerate their postsecondary education. High school students who are seniors, juniors, or exceptional 10th graders may concurrently enroll for college credit courses. A student can participate in the Early College Start program either by Concurrent Enrollment or Dual Enrollment. TVArk is also approved by the Arkansas Department of Education as a provider to offer digital learning courses in compliance with Act 1280.  For more information, contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment refers to high school students completing college-level courses on their high school campuses. When students complete each course with an acceptable grade, they earn college credit and also satisfy high school graduation requirements.

Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment refers to classes offered to students at TVArk outside of the regular school day and on TVArk's campus. Students may take any TVArk course in which they meet the skills and college course prerequisites.

Students must meet general TVArk requirements to enroll in either program:

  • Complete a TVArk application for admission and an ECS-Registration form.

  • Submit a copy of their high school transcripts, immunization records, and ACT scores* to TVArk.

  • Pay the class registration fee (if applicable).

*If ACT scores are not available or if students do not have sufficient ACT scores required for class admittance, the Accuplacer test may be taken at TVArk.

Transferability of General Education Credits

Most colleges and universities accept transfer credits from TVArk; however, the acceptance of transfer credit is the prerogative of the receiving institution. Students should obtain assurances in advance from the institution to which they wish to transfer.

Students may link to the ACTS system to obtain information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities.
